Has been given:

Speed from A to B = 60 km/hr

Speed from B to A = 90 km/hr

Formulas used:

Average speed of the whole journey = \(\frac{2xy}{x + y}\) (when same distance is covered)

Calculation:

⇒ Average speed = \(\frac{2 × 60 × 90}{60 + 90} = \frac{10800}{150}\)

⇒ Average speed = 72 km/hr

∴ The average speed of the car for the whole journey is 72 km/hr.
