Concept:

Clause 26.5.2.2 of IS 456:2000 states that 'the diameter of reinforcing bars shall not exceed one-eighth of the total thickness of slab.

Calculation:

The thickness of slab = 80 mm

∴ Maximum diameter of main reinforcement = 80 / 8

= 10 mm
