Bandura has done a great deal of work on social learning throughout his career and is famous for his “Social Learning Theory” which he has recently renamed, “Social Cognitive Theory”.

In this kind of learning-

• human beings learn social behaviours, therefore, it is sometimes called social learning.
• they observe others and emulate their behaviour. This form of learning is called modelling.
• observational learning observers acquire knowledge by observing the model’s behaviour, but performance is influenced by the model’s behaviour being rewarded or punished.
• Bandura theory of social learning can be explained under the following three headings-
  • Reciprocal determinism- used to indicate that personal influences, environmental forces, and behavior function as interdependent
  • Self-system- The person’s confidence in performing a particular behavior.
  • Principles of observational learning- Behavioural acquisition that occurs by watching the actions and outcomes of others’ behavior. 
• Albert Bandura constructed an experiment entitled “Bobo Doll Behaviour: A Study of Aggression.”
