An electric current can be classified as,

Conduction current: It is a movement of charges (flow of charger) in the presence of an electric field. ∴ The electric current flowing through a conducting wire will be conduction current only.

Convection current: It is a movement of charger or flow of current in the absence of an electric field (it flows in response to mechanical forces).

Ex: A moving charged belt, an electron beam in a cathode-ray tube, and electron movement in a vacuum tube.

Displacement current: It is defined as the rate of change of the electric displacement field. It follows that a time-varying electric field produces a magnetic field and vice-versa.
