Concept –

• Low birth weight refers to babies who weigh less than 2500 g.
• infant mortality refers to the number of infant death under one year age per age of 1000
• live birth in one year it is given by the formula –
• IMR = number of death under one year ÷ total live birth in one-year × 1000
• low birth weight may occur when an infant is born too early ( premature) or have an increased risk of serious health issue
• low birth  weight of fewer than 2500 grams
• another cause of LBW is taking medication during pregnancy conditions such as seizures, blood clots, HTN
• LBW babies often have a hard time staying warm because they don’t have much fat on their fat on the body
