Download Solution PDFThe rotor of an induction motor never rotates as fast as the stator magnetic field. This difference in speed is called slip speed.
A motor running idle with no load will almost come up to synchronous speed. Here slip-speed is very less.
As the motor is loaded, more torque is required. It causes increase in slip of motor which indicates the rotor frequency is low.
Increase in slip causes the decrease in speed of the rotor.
