CBR (California Bearing Ratio) test is an important test to ascertain the soil strength to determine its viability for engineering purposes. This test computes the relative strength of the soil specimen against a standard test sample. This test can be employed to determine the viability of the subgrade as well as the materials used in the sub-base and base course. The CBR value can be used to evaluate the thickness of the pavement.
