The Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) decides the AFMC eligibility criteria for admission in MBBS courses. The candidates appearing for the exam should meet all the eligibility details to attempt the exam. The AFMC exam is conducted every year by AFMC, and the AFMC exam eligibility may change every year due to several factors that might influence it. So keep yourself updated with the eligibility factors by going through this article. The authorities shortlist candidates for admission to MBBS courses in AFMC colleges through the NEET scores. Shortlisted candidates will now appear for ToELR and PAT exams to get final admissions.

  • The AFMC eligibility criteria may vary according to the different reserved categories; candidates should check their eligibility according to the category they belong to. 
  • The exam will be conducted by AFMC once a year to shortlist candidates for admission into various medical colleges.

AFMC Eligibility Criteria 2022

The candidates who have applied for the AFMC exam should be aware of the AFMC admission eligibility before they submit their applications. The detailed AFMC eligibility criteria are mentioned below:

Educational Qualifications

To admit the best candidates possible, the college has laid certain educational qualifications that the candidates must fulfill. The detailed educational qualifications are mentioned below:

  • To apply for AFMC, Pune, candidates must have qualified in the NEET entrance examination. 
  • Candidates must also have completed and passed in class 12th with Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and English from a recognized institute by the Government of India. 
  • Candidates who are appearing in class 12th or equivalent examination can also apply for the AFMC MBBS admission process 2022. 

They must have also qualified in Mathematics of class 10th from the following Boards – 

  • The Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent examination in Science from an Indian University/Board or other recognized examination body with Physics, Chemistry, English, and Biology, including practical tests in all of the above-mentioned Science subjects.
  • Candidates who are in the first year of three years of degree course from any recognised University with Physics, Chemistry, English, and Biology, including practical tests in Science subjects, provided the examination is a University level examination.
  • The Pre-professional/Pre-Medical examination with the following subjects – English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (after passing either the Higher Secondary School examination or pre-University or equivalent examination), including the practical tests in Science subjects. 
  • Candidates from the Senior Secondary of Indian School Certificate examination must have 12 years of study. Also, the last two years of study must include Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics or any other elective subject with English at this level.
  • Any other examination which will be equivalent to the Higher Secondary Science/Pre-Professional /Pre-medical Examination of Indian University/Board with English, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology, including practical tests in each of these Science subjects.

Age Limit Criteria

The candidates applying for the exam should be the age 17 as of December 31st 2022. The candidates applying for the exam should not be over the age of 24 years, as prescribed by AFMC. 

Number of Attempts

There is no limitation on how many times a candidate can apply for the exam. Candidates are eligible to apply until they exceed the maximum age limit. 

Aggregate Marks in Qualifying Exams

The exam conducting body determines the aggregate marks for the AFMC MHA eligibility. Candidates appearing for the exam should have the aggregate marks as mentioned below:

  • To be eligible for AFMC, candidates must have secured at least 60 percent aggregate marks in the Science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology). Also, they must have secured 50 per cent marks in English and 50 per cent marks in each Science subject.

AFMC 2022 Nationality Eligibility Criteria

According to the AFMC Pune eligibility criteria, the candidates applying for the admissions should be Indian citizens. Candidates from the states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Jammu & Kashmir can also apply for the exam. Foreign nationals who have a certificate of eligibility from the Ministry of Home Affairs are also eligible to apply for the exam.

AFMC Eligibility Criteria for Foreign/ NRI Students

Candidates in the NRI/OCI/PIO category, and candidates of Indian workers in gulf countries, can also apply for the exam. However, all foreign candidates should hold a certificate of eligibility from the Ministry of Home Affairs to be permitted to attempt the exam.

Eligibility for Admission to Participating Colleges for AFMC 2022

For admission into participating colleges for 2022, the candidates who have applied will have to pass the AFMC exam with more than or equal to the cut-off marks. Candidates who score more than the cut-off will be called for counselling on a merit basis. The candidates will be allotted colleges according to their marks in the AFMC exam during the counselling process. 

AFMC 2022 Reservation

The reservation for the AFMC exam will be made according to the rules of the Government of India. The reservations will be provided to the candidates for the below-mentioned categories. Candidates should provide a community certificate to avail of the reservation. Documents Required for AFMC 2022

The AFMC exam requires candidates to provide their 10th and 12th mark sheets, community, birth, income, etc. Below are the documents that the candidates will have to submit at the time of the exam:

  • 12th pass certificate and mark sheet
  • AFMC result 2022
  • Migration Certificate

The AFMC eligibility criteria for droppers will be the same as the AFMC exam eligibility mentioned above. The eligibility details will not change for droppers. Candidates who fulfill all the eligibility criteria can appear for the exams.

Candidates can find the download link for the AFMC eligibility criteria from the official website of the AFMC. 

There is no such limitation on how many times a candidate can apply for the admissions. Candidates are eligible to apply until they exceed the maximum age limit. 

Candidates who score less than the cut-off will not be considered for selection. 

The maximum age limit to apply for the admissions in AFMC MBBS program is 24 years.
