Part 22 of Indian Constitution Overview

Part 22 of Indian Constitution establishes important provisions. It includes its title as the “Constitution of India” and the commencement date of 26th January, 1950 marking Republic Day. It includes Article 394A which mandates an authoritative Hindi translation of the Constitution and ensures legal equivalence with the English text. Part 22 of Constitution also repeals key colonial laws such as -

  • the Indian Independence Act, 1947
  • the Government of India Act, 1935
