What is the Deendayal Disabled Rehabilitation Scheme?

The Deendayal Disabled Rehabilitation Scheme is a Centrally-Sponsored Scheme under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. It provides financial assistance to NGOs and other voluntary organizations working for the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities. It would create an enabling environment for PwDs by promoting comprehensive rehabilitation measures, awareness programs, and capacity-building initiatives that foster social and economic independence.

Incepted in 1999, DDRS was born out of the necessity to support grassroots-level organizations in their quest to uplift and empower disabled persons.
