'Diksha' (Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing) is an initiative by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, aimed at enhancing school education through digital means. Diksha Portal, an initiative started in September 2017, for School Education, by the Ministry of Education, Government of India is also one such platform for teachers, students, and educational authorities where they get access to a wide range of learning resources, such as textbooks, lesson plans, and training modules. It is designed to assist teachers in developing their professional capacities and giving quality education to students to bridge the gap between traditional and digital learning environments.

What is the Diksha Portal?

The National Platform for School Education, Diksha Portal has emerged under the National Digital Infrastructure for Teachers. It provides comprehensive resources at Classes I to XII, custom-made to suit several different state curricula and national standards. The portal attempts to meet some of the teacher's requirements against planning lessons, professional development, and classroom delivery through accessible and quality digital content. The platform is also all-inclusive; the availability of content in multiple languages gives it an air of legitimacy that stretches across different regions.

Background

The Diksha portal is founded on the Digital India campaign initiated in 2015 with the vision to convert India into a digitally empowered society and a knowledge economy. In this light, the Ministry of Education designed Diksha to be an initiative by the Ministry of Human Resource Development that would have an ongoing view on teachers' development with digital learning and teaching mechanisms.

Before Diksha, the educational resources in India were usually fragmented and not consistent across the states. PAL is that technology incorporated within the Diksha which, through the monitoring of the performance, pace, and style of learning, personalized learning experiences for every student to help them deal more effectively with their learning needs.

These include, among many other challenges, access to the internet, digital literacy, quality and relevance of the content, proper technical infrastructure, and the sustainability and scaling of it.

The Diksha Portal, initiated by the Ministry of Education, provides a great deal of learning resources, professional development training, and even interactive content for teachers, students, and other educational authorities. The beneficiaries are greatly benefited on this platform.
