Kinematic Indeterminacy (D_k) = 3j - r_e - m + r_r

Where, j = Number of joint

r_e = Number of external reaction

m = Number of members

r_r = Number of redundant reaction

Calculation:

Dk = 3j - re - m + rr

j = 11

r_e = 3 + 2 + 3 + 2 = 10

m = 11

r_r = 2 + 2 = 4

D_k = 3j - r_e - m + r_r = 3 × 11 - 10 - 11 + 4

 = 16

Alternate method:

D_k (When members are extensible) = Total number of independent displacement at each joint 

D_k (When members are inextensible) = Total number of independent displacement at each joint - number of members

D_k ( when members are extensible) = 3 (2 displacement and 1 rotation) + 3 + 5 (2 displacement and 3 rotation) + 3 + 3 + 3 + 5 + 1 + 1 = 27

D_k (When members are inextensible) = 27 - 11 = 16
