Anil covers his 35% of journey with speed = 70 km/h

Covers 40% of the journey with speed = 80 km/h

Remaining distance at speed = 50 km/h

Formula used:

Average speed = total distance/total time taken

Calculation:

Let Anil covers total distance = 100 km

Time taken by Anil to cover 35 km = 35/70 = 1/2 h

Time taken by Anil to cover the next 40 km = 40/80 = 1/2 h

Time taken by Anil to cover the remaining 25 km = 25/50 = 1/2 h

Average speed = total distance/total time taken

⇒ 100/(0.5 + 0.5 + 0.5)

⇒ 1000/15

⇒ 200/3 = 66\(\frac{2}{3}\) km/h
