  • Maharshi Dhondo (Annasaheb) Keshav Karve was born on 18th April 1858 in the village "Sherwali" in Murud taluka of Ratnagiri district. 
  • In 1892, Maharshi Karve became a life member of the Deccan Education Society.
  • Karveni established the "Student Fund" through the Deccan Education Society.
  • On 31st December 1893, Karve set up an organization in Pune called "Widow Stimulus Congregation".

  • In 1865, an organization called the Widow Marriage Promotion Society was established by Mahadev Govind Ranade. 
  • On 14th June 1896, Maharshi Karve established "Anath Balikashram" at Sadashiv Peth, Pune.

  • Due to the plague, the organization was relocated from Pune to Hingane.
