Question
Download Solution PDFIf the perimeter of the first square is equal to 3 times the perimeter of the second square, then what is the ratio of their sides?
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
3 ∶ 1
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
The perimeter of the first square = 3 × perimeter of the second square
Formula used:
Perimeter = 4 × Side
Calculation:
Let the side of the first square be x cm and the side of the second square be y cm.
According to the question,
The perimeter of the first square = 3 × perimeter of the second square
⇒ 4 × Side of first square = 3 × (4 × Side of the second square)
⇒ 4x = 12y
⇒ x/y = 3
Required ratio = 3 ∶ 1
∴ The ratio of their sides is 3 ∶ 1.
