Question
Download Solution PDFThe area of a rhombus is 96 cm2 and one of its diagonals is 16 cm. What is the length of its side?
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Area of a rhombus = 96 cm2
One diagonal = 16 cm
Formulas used:
Concept: The diagonals of a rhombus are perpendicular bisectors.
Area of a rhombus = 1/2 × Diagonal1 × Diagonal2
Side of rhombus = √[(D1/2)2 + (D2/2)2]
⇒ (1/2) × √[(D1)2 + (D2)2]
Calculation:
According to the question
96 = 1/2 × 16 × Diagonal2
⇒ Diagonal2 = 12
Now, Side of rhombus = 1/2 × √[162 + 122]
∴ 1/2 × 20 = 10 cm
