Calculation:

Hitansh's marks in Science = 70% of 150 = 105

Total marks scored by Hitansh = 67 + 105 + 64 + 55 + 75 = 366

Total maximum marks in all subjects = 550

⇒ Percentage marks scored = (366/550) × 100 = 66.55%

∴ Hitansh's overall percentage in the examination is 66.55%

Mistake Points

In the table, the marks given are the percentage marks obtained by each student.

Except for Science, each subject carries maximum marks = 100

Thus, marks obtained and percentage marks are equal

e.g. Hitansh scored 67% marks in English

⇒ Marks scored by Hitansh in English = 100 × (67/100) = 67

For Science subject, the maximum marks are 150

Hitansh scored 70% marks in Science

⇒ Marks scored by Hitansh in Science = 150 × (70/100)

⇒ Marks scored by Hitansh in Science = 105
