Given:

Length of rod : Length of shadow = 2 : √12

Formula used:

tan θ = Height of rod ÷ Length of shadow

Calculations:

⇒ tan θ = 2 ÷ √12

⇒ tan θ = 2 ÷ 2√3 = 1 ÷ √3

⇒ θ = 30°

∴ The angle of elevation of the sun is 30°.
