Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven
The total number of students in the college in 2021 = 60000
The total number of students in the college in 2022 = 75000
Concept
The degree-to-percentage conversion, multiply by 5/18
Calculation
The number of students opting for the mathematical sciences from 2021 = 68.4 × 5/18
⇒ 19% of 60000
= 11400
The number of students opting for the mathematical sciences from 2022 = 61.2 × 5/18
⇒ 17% of 75000
= 12750
The percentage change = (12750 - 11400)/11400 × 100
= 12%
The answer is 12%.
