Goa Common Entrance Test is a state-level entrance exam conducted for selecting students for admissions to professional degree courses in Pharmacy & Engineering offered at various colleges in Goa. Admission to these courses is governed by the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Goa. The exam is conducted annually and the examination process for the year 2022 has been successfully concluded recently.

What is GCET ?

Goa CET entrance exam is a State level examination conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Govt. of Goa for all the students who are Indian citizens and have resided in Goa for a minimum period of 10 years (5 years for those whose either of the parent/ grandparent is born in Goa). Those who wish to enroll into courses related to Engineering, Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy offered by the Government, Government-aided and un-aided colleges and institutions situated in Goa are required to appear in this exmintaion and secure decent scores. Even though students who do not belong to Goa can apply for the exam and seek admission in the various courses, the number of seats available for them is very, very limited.

GCET Exam eligibility criteria

There are certain parameters that one must fulfill to be eligible to sit in the GCET 2022 exam. It's important that the candidates know of it beforehand so as to avoid any complications in further examination and admission process. The various eligibility standards laid down by DTE for the GCET entrance exam are as follows:

Nationality

• Candidates should be Indian National.
• NRIs who have Indian passports may also apply under the NRI category.
• Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) /Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders are eligible to apply under NRI Category too.
• Foreign Nationals must apply to Govt. of India.

Qualifying examination

• Candidates should have cleared the Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination, Goa Board, OR
• An examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi, OR
• Any other examination equivalent to the H.S.S.C. examination of Goa Board.
• They must also have acquired the minimum required percentage of marks.

Qualifications required for BE

• 10+2 passed with English, Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with one of the following subjects Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Computer Science /Biology
• Secured min. 45% aggregate marks in Physics & Mathematics with one of the following subjects Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Computer Science/Biology. (40% for the applicants belonging to SC, ST and OBC only).

Step 1: Submission of application form and registration for CET Goa 2022.

Step 2: GCET 2022 Admit Card/ Hall Ticket provided to candidates

GCET 2022 registration process

The registration process for GCET 2022 exam was conducted in offline mode only. The details are as follows: 

• Application form is released on the official website of DTE. 
• Candidates had to download the application form, fill it up and submit it either in person or by post to the designated authorities. 
• While submittign the form in person, the candidate had to visit the designated center along with the form adn three reven passport sized photographs. 
• While sending the filled application form, the demand draft had to be drawn in favur of the “Directorate of Technical Education”.

• The demand draft’s validity must be atleast 3 months from the date of issuance.

GCET Exam Fee

The candidates were required to pay their reistration fee while submitting their application for GCET 2022 exam. The fee amounts were as follows:

GCET Exam- Admit Card

The GCET 2022 admit cards were issued only to those candidates who had submitted the complete application form and the fee amount properly. Admit cards were sent to the candidate’s registered e-mail ID. No Admit Card were sent by post. The admit card contained the candidate’s name, personal details, exam center, timings, etc. The candidates were required to save tehri admit cards and get its hardcopies printed before the exam day. The admit card had to be carried alongwith to the examination center on the day of GCET 2022 exam, and also had to be retained until the end of admission process.

Candidates who had participated in the exam were able to cross check their answers key from the official answer key released by DTE on their official website. Steps to check the answer key were:

GCET Exam - Result

The result was declared on 18th July, 2022 on the official website of DTE in the form of a PDF file. No separate scorecard was published for each candidate.

GCET 2022- Counselling

The counselling process involved the following:

Step 1: Registration- 

• the candidates had to fill a form in which they had to provide details like registration number, name, gender, category, marks secured in GCET 2022, etc. 
• This counselling form had to be submitted in person at teh DTE, Goa and other notified locations. 
• An acknowledgement card was issued on successful submission of he form. 

Step 2: Seat allotment-

• It is odne on the basis of several factors like- availability of seats, merit, category, etc. 
• For the seat’s successful allotment, candidates had to get their document verification done 

Step 3: Reporting at the allotted centre- 

• The candidates had to report in person at the allotted institute along with their allotment letter. 
• Acknowledgement letter, original documents and certificates, and fee had to be carried alongwith.
