To write 473 in Roman numerals, we break it down as follows:
So, 473 = CD + LXX + III = CDLXXIII

Example 3: What is the value of XII+XIV+XXX? Write in Roman numerals.
Solution: When a numerical is followed by a lower-valued numeral, the two are added. In addition, if a lower value numeral is followed by a higher value numeral, the lower value numeral is deducted.
We also know that when a numeral is repeated, the number is multiplied by the number of times it is multiplied.
So, XII = 10+1+1 = 12
XIV = 10+5-1 = 14
XXX = 10+10+10 = 30
So, 12 + 14 + 30 = 56
50 is represented by L, and 6 is represented as VI.
So, XII+XIV+XXX = LVI
