Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
The average age of a man and his son is 55 years.
The ratio of their ages is 7 ∶ 4 and respectively.
Calculation:
Let the age of the man and his son be 7x and 4x respectively.
According to the question,
(7x + 4x) = 55 × 2
⇒ 11x = 110
⇒ x = 10
Now, the ratio of their ages after 6 years
⇒ (7 × 10 + 6) : (4 × 10 + 6)
⇒ 76 : 46 = 38 : 23
∴ The ratio of their ages after 6 years is 38 : 23.
